Stress has become such a normal part of our lifestyle that most people don’t even recognize that their body is stressed

We've all felt stress. Sometimes stress can be a positive force, causing you to perform well at a job interview or while competing in a sporting event; but often stress due to confronting multiple daily challenges like managing finances, dealing with frustrating events, fear for personal safety, and meeting deadlines can be a very negative force.  If you experience stress over a prolonged period, it could become chronic with severe consequences to your health.

Sadly, most medical professionals don’t focus attention on the effects of stress, but rather the resulting disorder.  Clinical studies have shown that stress is the leading cause of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, weakened immune system, kidney disease, digestive diseases, insomnia, and numerous psychological disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and mood imbalances.  Even more devastating is the link between stress and a decline in cognitive performance.  This includes a loss of neurons (particularly in the hippocampus), a reduction in overall brain volume, and impairments to visual perception and memory.

Poor diet and exercise are generally blamed for these chronic diseases.  While a nutritious diet is essential to good health, it is stress, and the cortisol levels generated from stress, that causes the imbalance of the nervous system, leaving the body vulnerable to chronic disease. Our goal at HealthScan is to use diagnostic technology to identify stress (imbalances in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system) and provide a non-prescription based treatment plan to control the effects of stress and even reverse its damaging effects.  HealthScan uses the only FDA cleared, patented, screening device for analyzing the nervous system.
